I need to see the case
I need to see the case
So go look. LA Superior Court 1968. Assault was charged, physics prof said sandwiches were insufficiently aerodynamic or lethal. He got acquitted of assault. Rudeness is not a crime.
If it were, 47* would be charged.
I hope this sandwich guy's attorney knows about this case. They can cite it as precedent.
Yes but that case was a regular sandwich two slices of bread with a filling and was not suitably aerodynamic. On the other hand this was a submarine sandwich, a common hoagie, wrapped in plastic and ready to be used for lethal purposes. Assault with a deadly weapon!
“Rudeness is not a crime” is *really* good
I wasn’t doubting you. Literally, I want to read the case.
I never read the case but knew the student and the physics prof. It was one of the best parts of being a student there.
I do have to say it MIGHT have been a municipal court, but I doubt it. Carson, CA. Assault during a student demonstration probably got bumped to Superior Court. I can't Google it so unless you're in LA County this might not pop. LA Times or the Daily Breeze likely would have the story.
I followed you so you can follow me so I can give you the defendant's name. It was in criminal court LA County Superior Court.
This is awesome!
I can't remember what I made for dinner last night, but THAT I remember.
🤣🙌
👍 Thanks for ferreting this out. It was one of the highlights of our days. Hope I'm recalling the rest of it properly.
Seems like it but at minimum spot on that he was acquitted for similar type of assault. That's a darn good start for any lawyer. This is the best of social media for good.
I'm beginning to suspect it definitely happened (you found it) but got enlarged into folklore. I remember a John McMillan but always thought it was another guy. Hope it involved CSCDH because if not it really WAS urban legend w facts even a year after it happened. Still a good case!
Well it's in GPT so it must be true 😂
