I think that’s a legitimate concern, to be fair. Really. Still, I think Dems would be better off today if in response to people saying “defund the police” most Dems wouldn’t said “ARE YOU F*CKING CRAZY! NO. KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF DUMBASSES. FUND THE DAMN POLICE!”
I'm sorry, that's not a counterfactual, thats what actually happened and police budgets went up under Biden, under democratic governors and under democratic mayors. Maybe they'd have been better off defunding because actual actions and rhetoric didn't change the view of rightwing dipshits at all
