I feel like cornering the market on fossil fuels today is like cornering the market on VHS cassette production around 2002
The enticing prospect of Peak Oil hitting DURING Trump 2.0 is a delight to entertain…
Peak Oil was supply, and while people thought it was an environmentalist concept, in retrospect it was probably the oil industry trying to make oil seem like an insecure resource that needed protection and expansion because the supply can’t seriously run out
I think it’s not so much a case that it’s actually running out - no doubt there would be many more years of extraction ahead if we wanted to. It’s more a case of the cost of extraction is beginning to exceed the return on it. Energy Return On Investment (EROI) and all that.
I mean the core concept historically, the idea that supply would peak and then begin to fall. What’s happening now, where it needs to stay in the ground and demand may fall to where extraction isn’t worth it, is real but a different concept imo
Yeah, that’s absolutely a thing too.
This means the lawsuits against Carney & the stooges only need to drag on for a few years, at which time we will then be able to say "Look, see, demand in declining, just like every sensible person said it would."
Who is alberta gonna sell our dirty oil to 🤣
good thing that fucking corpo shill idiot carney wants to build more pipelines amirite
