The European Union has to retaliate against the US and its tech companies. The FTC is telling major tech firms not to implement the Digital Services Act if it violates the “freedom of expression” of US citizens. These companies must be ejected from our markets if they won’t comply with our laws.

It used to be merely a hubristic unstated assumption that US laws (or absence thereof) applied to all internet conduct. And occasionally Google would argue that foreign countries (eg—Canada, see Equustek) were foreclosed from applying national law). But for this to be official US policy is crazy.
