Realistically, RoboCop is the one that's made the biggest impact. Even as a kid I could tell there was more under the surface of "robot policemen shoots baddies" even if I couldn't understand it, and over time it's been the film I point to as sparking my interest in analyzing the medium.
And that led me eventually to a media studies degree, and a chance to study for a month in Italy thanks to the academic grants I got through my job- which I have partly thanks to my manager being a fellow movie nerd- and now I'm writing for a publication and occasionally being a PA for indie flicks.
