I think everyone here wants a better candidate than Newsom, but some are worried there may not be one. Newsom may suck, but even on trans issues, he remains slightly better than Trump, who is already firing trans people from the military, trying to ban them from universities, jobs, getting visas,...

I don't blame you if you want to vote for him as the lesser evil. But that's only if he wins the 2028 primary. Many of these bad faith Newsom apologists are acting entitled and asking for his critics (many of whom are trans or LGBT) to STFU as if he's already the nominee ಠ⁠﹏⁠ಠ

I hope there's some better candidate soon so the online talks could be about how that person is great, not about how Newsom sucks. If all we do is spend the next three years making sure Newsom won't become president, we may get what we wish for, but it may turn into a disaster for trans people.

Yes, obviously criticizing Newsom should not be the strategy in of itself. We need a Mamdani-like figure who's primary messaging is about economic issues. But it's possible to do both at the same time.
