Except, yes, that's what they wrote. If they can't have their rights, no one should have rights.
Except, yes, that's what they wrote. If they can't have their rights, no one should have rights.
Guess you can't read. If you're willing to sacrifice someone else's rights in order to not find a better candidate, then you're going to be willing to sacrifice more and more people's rights until you have none yourself.
I do want a better candidate, I'm just used to not always getting the things I want.
I bet I could find 40 people on here who would agree to vote for Gavin Newsom on the condition that you jump out of airplane without a parachute If you don't take that deal, why do you want the rest of us to suffer?
@uzivatel.bsky.social do we have a deal or what
@uzivatel.bsky.social WHY ARE YOU BEING SO SELFISH ARE YOU GOING TO FREEJUMP FROM A FLYING AIRPLANE IN EXCHANGE FOR MY VOTE OR DO YOU (PROBABLY) JUST WANT TRUMP TO WIN A THIRD TERM
Depends. Will I be thrown off that plane along with my whole family by some masked goons, if I don't jump myself? Anyway, if you're hoping to punish privileged assholes like Newsom by taking away rights of other marginalized groups, I may have some bad news.
ANSWER THE QUESTION ARE YOU JUMPING OUT OF THE PLANE OR DO YOU WANT TRUMP TO WIN
Okay, I'm jumping off the plane. But I'm pretty sure you'll say it doesn't count, because the plane will be sitting in the hangar. Which is actually better analogy than yours.
It sounds like you are not willing to sacrifice your existence to win an election, but you’re happy to sacrifice other people’s. That’s not how you build a coalition, it’s frankly nuts that you need it explained If you ever wonder why democrats lose, it’s you. You are the reason that democrats lose
Perhaps, but you made it pretty clear you are ready to sacrifice other people's existence too. There's not even some "lesser evil" style justification. You just want other marginalized people to suffer with you. I don't have problem with Democrats losing, it's the Republican policies I don't like.
You’re just making shit up. Fuck off
Man, you do not even have the slightest courage of your convictions. No wonder you're a Newsom fan. Democrats aren't going to vote for a guy who rolls over and shows his belly no matter how much foreign influence tries to split the vote.
Right. So simply don't vote for a horrible person like Newsom, and you won't have to worry about that.
That's generally a great advice, but what about that one scenario where the other candidate is genuinely even worse at pretty much every single thing you care about? I do hope it won't come to that, but I think I'm not the only one who hoped for things to be really different today. Yet her we are.
Sounds like we should prevent that scenario from coming to pass, since if Newsome gets the nomination he's going to lose. It's probably a better use of your time to try to stop Newsome from being the nominee than to engage in the impotent tactic of vote shaming three years in advance, huh?
People are already opting for Trump's third term three years in advance. Things are going to get even more stupid. IMO, there needs to be a better candidate soon.
Then that is a failure of the democratic party to not weed out unacceptable candidates. This is why a third of the country doesn't vote. Because they don't feel heard by the politicians who are supposed to be on our side. We are where we are, because we keep voting for the lesser of two evils.
The lesser of two evils, is still evil and we'll never bring us the change and progress we desperately need. And saying you're going to vote for whatever Democrat is in the general election just lessens your negotiating power. Dems don't have to change if you'll vote for them no matter what.
But is the bigger of the two evils bringing you the change you need? Or are things just getting worse and worse?
You don't fight evil by being slightly less evil. If the Democrats aren't willing to fight for the people, we shouldn't be expected to vote for them just because they're not the Republicans. I want an actual opposition party instead of the corporate bought enabling party that the Dems are.
And in the absence of an actual opposition party, you just let the Republicans make things worse? Seems like the far right hijacked the Republican party and reshaped it to its image, while people on the left do nothing and wait for the very Democrat party they hate so much to somehow save the day?
So … you’re saying that, as long as you have your rights, it’s okay that others lose theirs. You’re a real peach. 🙄
So ... you're saying that, as long as one marginalized group loses right, all marginalized groups should lose theirs as well? Because those are the people who are going to be affected the most.
A party that bargains away rights 1) doesn’t understand the nature of rights, 2) shouldn’t expect—let alone demand—the support of those whose rights they’ve bargained away, and 3) deserves to sit outside of power until they understand points 1 and 2.
A party? That's what all this is about for you? Do you even care about people and how this affects their lives?
Lives are ALL I care about. It would be nice if blue MAGA felt the same.
Since ALL you care about lives (and not at all political parties), surely you would vote even for an asshole like Newsom, if not voting for him would make people's lives worse. Right?
Voting for Newsom would make some lives worse. I’m not getting behind that even if it makes my life better. When it comes to basic rights, I don’t make trades like that anymore. You do you, I suppose, but stop acting shocked/offended when people with greater moral clarity stick to their principles.
So you care about other people's lives, but you just care about your own principles more. Fair enough.
Kill/Harm one to save … how many? Where do YOU balance those scales? Principles establish a consistency that is the foundation of one’s politics. Without them, all you’ve fighting for is to “win” at the expense of the most marginalized.
So just watching as many are being killed/harmed, because trying to save at least some would not be consistent? Maintaining one's politics at the expense of the most marginalized? I'd just be repeating my previous post here.
