Lmao they are NOT happy that Hays County is competitive these days

What are your thoughts about all this, other than than you’re being governed by the worst people imaginable?
I have a lot of thoughts on it, too many to type through on my phone, and besides, it won't affect anything. That said, it reeks of desperation. This is the third time gerrymandering has happened since I've been an adult (03 or 04 and 11 or 12 - dems left but ultimately relented)
4 thoughts specific to this: 1) reps are scared of 2026 backlash nationally meaning they don't think even typically safe seats are guaranteed 2) this is a stunt to further disenfranchise Texas dem voters because reps are even more scared of losing Texas' electoral college votes. They're DOA w/o it
3) for all our handwringing about blatant vote manipulation, their actions indicate they're either not actually cheating or are not willing to be more blatant about it. One or the other, which means ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk 4) reps must think 2020 was an anomaly and dems obvs think 2016 and 2024 were anomolies
but reps are hedging because they're not actually certain. Outside of that, I don't know. None of the people, dems or reps, at the strategy-making level seem to be possessed of much in the way of foresight and they're all reacting to the whims of a man with the frontal lobe of a goldfish.
As always, thanks for your insight.
Forgot to add, this could fail spectacularly for reps. They're spreading themselves awfully thin to get these five seats, and if this doesn't actually serve to disenfranchise dem voters, it might actually give more seats to dems than they previously had.
