I've had so much in the past that I have taken it to the food pantry. I gave most of it away before I got in the door. Fresh produce is like gold, and I enjoy giving away the overabundance.

Nothing special at all. Fertilized them once mid season. I don't know if planting them in between 2 red tomatoes cross polinated to get the red center. I thought they were only supposed to be green and yellow. They do like being watered consistently.

Thank you. Yes I have to water all my tomatoes daily, esp since they’re all in big planters. Have a good crop of cherry and plum tomatoes this year. I do use tomato liquid fertiliser which prob helps. The red centres do make for a v attractive fruit. Maybe you’ve created a new variety!

I grew green zebras for the 1st time this year & absolutely loved them. Fruits were fairly small but there were lots of them on each plant. Great right off the vine for salads or on their own, but also really great in bruschetta & salsa. Even used a few cooked in casserole-style dishes, but best raw

Loved tomatoes but have to avoid them now. Not good for the elderly with rheumatism, being of the nightshade family, as are tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines, peppers and chillies. Something to do with the natural protection they have against predators!

Fry them

They are fully ripe and will disintegrate with frying.

I’ve fried some tomatoes that had some yellow or even red in them and they turned out fine. It doesn’t taste as tarty or as firm I will admit.

These are fully ripe, I think they would just disintigrate even with cornmeal crust.

If fully ripe then yes I agree. Tough to find green tomatoes unless you grow them.

It’s tough growing tomatoes in Texas though. North Texas. DFW area. Celebrity are the best in my area. I’m from SW PA so fried green tomatoes was new to me 25 years ago.

They look like old cultured Heirloom tomatoes. Try removing seeds from them, drying them out and planting them next spring. That’s what makes them heirloom.

I don't know, although they are planted betwee 2 red ones.......I was surprised too. I am going to save seeds and see what happens next year.

That's probably what happened, some kind of cross pollination.

They look like Ananas Noirs rather than Green Zebras...

All I can go by is the tag from the pot when I bought it in the spring Green Zebra. Here is the tag. I think it may have cross polinated with the reds panted on both sides of it, to get the red centers.

If it cross pollinated, you wouldn't see the difference in this year's fruit, but next year from any seed. They're lovely, but they don't look like any green zebras I've ever seen.

Looks like Ananas Noire tomatoes. Or something very similar. I've been trying to grow some in this year's garden, but my tomatoes all did horribly this year. I only have a few types that are living. Every year it seems like my gardens are doing worse and worse.

Try adding piles of compost next year. Have you had soil tested? Sounds like it might be depleted?

I miss when tomatoes smelled like tomatoes with just a tinge of insecticide, the bright yellow powder kind. We would stand out on the porch with a salt shaker eating them while the juice ran down your arm. This was over 50 years ago.

They’re pale green like other unripe tomatoes but have dark green stripes. The pale green starts to turn a little yellow when they’re ripe. For some reason last 2 years I’ve had a hard time finding the plants. I planted my Green Zebra this year weeks after I planted the others. Last year the same.
