I’d misremembered that survey. I wonder how newer ADUs compare with the ADUs from that survey. I see so many ADUs now being built as a way to get more square footage for the main hose,

I would also expect that wealthier areas like Los Altos have more of that, since people have the money to spare (vs homeowners in the SFV who need to collect rent to justify such a big investment)

Definitely true, and also, developers build $8 million McMansions, and get even more floor area by adding ADUs, which I suspect rarely get used as housing.
