Exactly. I believe WSDOT told the city that our vote for a 2 lane transit only street doesn’t hold jurisdiction over the state highway which they control the design of.
Didn’t he advocate for it though? That was my understanding. WA legislature is the ultimate decider tho yeah.
Yeah every so often I think about how McGinn was all "look this is what we want" and everyone from Gregoire on down to that one (fictional) intern at WSDOT replied "ha ha no." The Mayor and SDOT aren't completely powerless but WSDOT is gonna do what WSDOT wants to do.
Reminds me of how Seattle asked for high-speed transit right of way when I-5 was being built & WA-DOT refused because they couldn’t imagine Seattle ever needing that.
