This amendment takes advantage of a loophole in @jessdbateman.bsky.social's SB 5571, which says cities can't regulate any exterior cladding materials that are otherwise in compliance with state building code...except in historic districts.

The long game by Historic Wallingford. Just wait until they say they need their own board to review them. Was the thesis subject of one of their board members at UW who wrote a scathing review of HALA MHAs impact on her neighborhood.

But, alas, was never going to be stopped. The 50%+1 rule only applies to opposition. If property owners don’t vote it’s counted as a vote of approval. Whole thing is set up to pass. Condos with 100 owners only counted as 1 vote too, same as a SFH owner

4Culture gave them the grant to get the designation report completed. They take county money. Someone on the board also serves on WA DAHP who voted to approve this as well. Just so openly corrupt and nobody seemed to say much about it
