it's incredibly annoying because the two parties are both extremely conservative and anti-basic humanity, so we end up using "further left" to specify not within the two party framework, rather than anything meaningful.

it also renders any further political conversations absolutely meaningless because each side is just going to accuse the other of being either communist or fascist and it is super tiring
