In the beginning, those felt more organic because they weren't always about selling new toys. Remember in MMPR when they get those sling guns and hide in a wagon of watermelons? We wanted to buy those and couldn't! Later, it was basically "Ask your mom & dad to buy you the Power Cannon!"
I think maybe that was because the slingshot things WERE in Zyuranger, but the Power Cannon came from Dairanger so they couldn't use the Sentai footage so they were just like "fuck it, they have this now."
True, but we pretty much got all the Zyuranger stuff. They just covered all the Japanese with lightning bolts. God, there were SO MANY LIGHTNING BOLTS...
