A concept she never embraced. ☹️ And a concept she was never shown. She kept us clothed and alive. I think it was most she was capable of and I don’t think badly of her for it. I don’t think she wanted any of it. It was forced on her. And she just survived and kept us surviving
Remember my Mom making snide comments about "fancy" people that sent their kids to preschool, among other things. My Dad was the "I'll give you something to cry about" parent. Always wondered if they were raised that way, or whether it was US current culture.

I’m reading a book & the term “emotional poverty” was used - and, I thought how that term can be applied to so many relationships. My Mom experienced some of that - so she loved us with everything that she had.
Excellent term. Both of my folks were born during the Great Depression and I realize how much it impacts me to this day in how I keep stockpiles of things
I am also a stockpiling person. If we run out of something, it’s rare that we don’t have a back-up in the cupboard - learned from growing up around my Oma/Opa.

My sister has a complete second freezer for herself if things go south. I’m hoping one of my neighbors will want peaches or pineapples to highlight their cooking. 😆 Otherwise I’m screwed. 🤣
I have a small chest freezer that doesn't get as much use now but was handy during the lockdowns at the start of Covid. When they first started those I prepped a load of veg, bagged them into individual portions & then got called back to work 😂😂😂
