When I joined in 2003, the only picture you could post was one potato camera resolution thumbnail, there were no upvotes, and you could only communicate through wall posts.

It was basically just a campus directory where you could leave someone a publicly viewable message. I only ever saw it being used to ask for class notes or inviting people to parties.

Don’t forget poking. My first memory of Facebook was sitting in the same room with my classmates and poking each other. We knew it was silly. We did not know it was the harbinger of a dystopian future.
