although it feels suboptimal that when you switch from a bsky[dot]social handle to a custom domain, the old handle gets freed up (i snagged it again to prevent impersonation, but it seems like it should automatically redirect? also it appears to break links to your old posts)

2 and 3 are debatable, 1 is cope. it works really well for lots of things!
The "LLMs are just fancy autocomplete" crowd has been wrong about basically everything, but they have been very successful at getting people to ignore/downplay AI progress. I still meet smart people who say stuff like "AI can't do basic math," meanwhile AlphaProof won a silver medal at the IMO.
This is a fascinating study, and speaks to the vast perception gap between what LLMs are capable of and what people think they are capable of. Doctors using ChatGPT for diagnosis performed *worse* than ChatGPT alone, because they kept second-guessing the model. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/h...

Just used Claude to make a "long video summarizer" app I've been dreaming about for a year (it converts videos to mp3s, transcribes them using Whisper, and uses Llama 3 to summarize the transcripts) in 20 minutes without writing a line of code, feeling absolutely drunk with power
