Today, someone paid me a HUGE compliment. They told me that everything they saw me, I was always in a hurry, but always took the time to great them cheerfully with a big smile. They said it always brightens their day just a bit to see me! I blushed and said thankyou.👇

A moment later, my composure unraveled. I am not a cheerful person inside. My soul is full of rage and hatred. Mostly, I avoid people and I especially avoid conversations that might turn me against a person. The cheerfulness is a mask to hide my contempt. 👇
It took me a half hour to compose myself, to dry my face, unflinching my fists, and put my mask back on. It didn't quite sit comfortably the rest of the day though. Im just barely keeping it together.👇
Next time you see someone who is bright, cheerful, optimistic, enthusiastic...maybe a little over the top, respect the mask. An anonymous gesture is HUGE! A cup of coffee, a cold bottle of water on a hot day, a flower....anything small but sincere. But don't ask them to remove the mask.
