Great thinking here - let’s add 24 more sleazy Labour appointees to the utterly corrupt House of Lords, so they can get on with making money by lobbying for far-right Palantir and gambling companies, just like Tom Watson. What a popular reform this won’t be. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Let’s instead change the HoL from an unrepresentative and undemocratic body to one which fits into and feeds them. Perhaps it could be a body which pulls the constituent parts of our country together. Perhaps LGR can be part of that process.

Labour has become the new Conservative Party, the Conservative Party has become the party for corporations, and then there is the far right fascist, oligarch and dictator loving New Reform Farage party ( which is the UK equivalent to MAGA). We need a new party for the middle & working class.

I hope so. If they can raise enough money. And get a major paper on their side. And ditch the beard and sandals image. A lot of work to do to become mainstream. (Speaking as former party member.)

Maybe you need to check back on them? A lot of their policies are more mainstream than the other mainstream parties and particularly than Reform. I mean, funding the NHS better? Far out stuff... Not as far out as gunning to facilitate more profit for health companies.

Yes, I know their policies. I'm not the issue. The issue is changing general perceptions amongst "the working and middle classes". They need money, media support and a smart, punchy comms strategy.

So you’d prefer they leave the lords as is and continue to struggle to get reforming legislation through? 🙄 Adding extra lords isn’t the reform ffs! 🤦

Starmer has already shown his contempt for democracy in his autocratic disdain for free speech and his headlong rush to hand control of huge chunks of our country over to corporations in the shape of SEZs, so boosting the unelected and costly Lords is no surprise.

I thought voting shakeup was 1.proportional representation 2. abolish the lord's with elected 2nd chamber 3. votes for 16 year olds Not "let's stuff the lord's with cronies" Starmer's shit at politics isn't he The first 3 are real vote winners, last one vote loser. The Trojan horse rides again

No let’s rely on the wet farts in for example the Lib Dem’s to do the right thing. Let’s not use our power to do what we believe and get it done . Oh hang on tho

No more self harm - no one will notice, thank or benefit from getting rid of them. So we need to balance the breeding Tory membership - like flies or rabbits - too many when not controlled
