1 privacy, 2 price, 3 space, 4 cleanliness, 5 location, 6 amenities. Im not in support of the model, but it has a lot of advantages, especially when traveling with a family. A fridge and a stove easily saves $200/ day for a family of 5. Renting 1 abnb 400/night 2 hotel rooms 600/night

Airbnbs have disadvantages on each of those things. Hotels definitely offer more privacy than staying in someone’s house. Generally more expensive now. Space sure. Cleanliness depends on the space but also charges huge cleaning fees with no set standards. Space is really the only advantage.

and kitchen. due to covid/health reasons i really don't go to restaurants, even when traveling. i'll eat street food for sure, but i still buy groceries and cook at home a lot of the time/at least a meal a day. a kitchen is a necessity for me, which hotels don't usually offer.

i don't travel much anyway but bc of the pandemic, i need essentially my own full apartment to stay in. hostels are ok if i have a private room but they're also very risky for showers/common spaces. not to say that it has to be airbnb rentals specifically, but that's a huge consideration as well.
