That’s how I used to march when I didn’t wanna be there.
That’s how I used to march when I didn’t wanna be there.
Come to think of it: we used to cross bridges without cadence so as to avoid a rhythmic sway. (They might have considered contracting with Bill Murray for some unusual tactics).
I was just thinking...they all look incredibly embarassed
They surely are,but what's strange for a European is that apparently they never learnt how to military march properly .This is the very basic learning of any european soldier. & we do not learn it in order to be able to march for some national day,but to be able to move a complete unit efficiently.
They were not marching on purpose. Our troops know how to March. They just didn’t see the need to be honoring a convicted felon & traitor.
This seems to be the accepted explanation.
It is.
Bill Murray had his guys marching in step
Very effective for forming pike squares to fend off cavalry charges
They are very much doing this on purpose to "voice" their displeasure at being there.
Actually, if you look at footage from the 40s, US troops could march extremely well and were pretty snazzy in formations. I suspect the "doing it on purpose" option may be correct. That would also explain the dress-down Saturday uniform option as well!
I read that since the Army is in the middle of a uniform transition that not all soldiers have the same dress uniform - could explain the choice or maybe they wanted them to look ready for battle.
I have recently attended one of my son’s Army functions… multiple formations across a huge field making their way to present in front of the packed stands… they know how to march
I’ve marched in an inaugural parade before, it’s not easy to keep in step on the long route in inclement weather and if you add rock music that doesn’t help keep the rhythm. Plus everyone hates marching…it’s a plus for our military that we don’t waste much time on it.
Well it’s too bad 🍊 wasted millions of our dollars on this.
Oh they absolutely know how to march. This was a choice.
