It's just a mean thing to do to our military, put them on the streets of their country to police their fellow citizens. Who signed up for that?

As a retired Army Vet, even I know it's illegal to use Troops to police our Citizens, in any form. Posse Comitatus is NOT A SUGGESTION. Those Troops ought to know better, and they should disobey illegal orders. Be an Oak. They ought to be dragging Trump out of the White House by his ear.

I think Trump might deploy these troops into cities that voted democrat, especially as the '26 elections inch closer.
Our troops swear an oath to defend the Constitution, not to be pawns in political stunts and pick up trash. Marjorie Taylor Greene cheers on Trump’s reckless disregard for the law, but real leaders respect the rule of law and protect the American people from authoritarian overreach.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to be in the armed forces under any circumstance with Trump calling the shots and Hegseth willingly doing anything he asks. Who wants to possibly put their life on the line for a deranged nut case? The troops moral has to be critically low at this point in time.
Harris over Taylor Green. Bring back SANITY.
So...when are the troops gonna start disobeying illegal orders?
No, you don't, actually. Having served in the military provides you no unique insight into the role of the military in a republic. In fact, your suggestion that you do is sort of fascist. Try to do better.
WHAT?! How is it fascist?! Trump deploying the army to quell protests, taking people's rights and striking fear into innocents is more "fascist" in my opinion. The Army is there is and should serve no role in partisan politics except funding or external issues.
You are completely missing the point. I am not saying he is wrong on the substance. I am disagreeing with the premise of his opening parenthetical. The US tendency to defer to the military, which on the left is not even sincere, is very destructive. We need to get past that.
Try thinking in terms of principles, rather than teams. I am on yours, but that is not the point.
