I'm embarrassed to say that my high school friends and I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn open for Huey Lewis and The News in the 80s, and had no idea who he was. 🙈

When I saw SRV at his Boathouse show (headliner), he stopped between songs to give a brief but impassioned speech against Apartheid in South Africa. As a newly minted college freshman at ODU, I was just getting involved in anti-Apartheid activities, and it really motivated me. He was a good soul.
