If the cost to move the contract is a third round pick or if they have to take back a lesser expiring contract, no problems with that.

Absolutely 💯 % agree with you on this. Although taking in a contract would go against trying to get as low under the cap as possible

I don't think they need to get as under as possible, just to the start of the season without having to use off-season LTIR. Depending on whom they take back, they could make a second trade for futures or waive them and save $1M putting them in the minors.
