It's horrid fatty shit, too...
It's horrid fatty shit, too...
You know what horrid fatty beef is called? Prime
Hmmm. I quite like fatty beef. I know it's probably not good for me, but I *do* like it. It's all the other shit in US meat I'd be a bit doubtful about, along with low, poorly enforced production standards. Luckily, as an Australian, most of what I can buy is much better, safer local product.
You, uh You generally want your beef to be fatty ...
I think I'll stick with good super lean Canadian beef... Average lifespan is now 4 years longer than America and growing... Alberta beef is grass-fed and grain-finished which produces a piece of beef which has much lower levels of cholesterol; a cholesterol equivalent to chicken with the skin on.
Alberta beef is the best
Massage the cows with beer and you get Canadian Wagyu, which has amazing marbling and less gaminess than pure Japanese Wagyu.
Going out on a limb, I'm guessing you prefer white mean to dark when it comes to those chickens, too?
*Most* beef is grass fed/grain finished.
And letβs not forget Mad Cow Disease. Biosecurity is priority for Australia.
The UK had a big problem with Mad Cow disease but it hasn't been an issue in the US. On the other hand, now that Trump is gutting federal agencies and will likely get rid of a lot of regulations, who knows what the future will bring.
The US did have a BSE problem but it was hushed up. www.cidrap.umn.edu/bse/us-has-f...
It wasn't "hushed up". We hear about isolated cases from time to time but they don't get into the food supply. As I said, though, who knows, this regime could get rid of all testing and regulations.
I believe it was far more serious than we were told. However, I accept that I have nothing to go on except rumours. I'm not a conspiracy theorist kind of guy.
Mad cow disease became a problem in the UK because they cut restrictions. Those restrictions are now back in place because restrictions work.
Maybe the problem is that Trump & his MAGAts have Mad Cow disease?
The U.S. allow hundreds of ingredients in food and cosmetics that are banned in the EU/UK as potential carcinogens.
Is it true they still experiment on Beagles?
my.greaterrochesterchamber.com/memberdirect... near me :(
It breaks my Heart, it really does. I've a list of companies that either experiment on Animals or use Palm Oil in their products. Probably doesn't make a scrap of difference but it's something.
So really stupid, too, because there is ZERO reason in 2025 to be testing products on animals. And itβs pretty easy to source cruelty-free versions of these kinds of products.
100%. How can it be that in 2025 we are implementing the same cruel testing from 30 plus years ago. I hope I live long enough to see it end.
Please post your list! πππ
If you google companies testing on animals you will be as shocked as I was.
Thank you! I make sure my hair/skin/toothpastes have the cruelty free marks, but Iβll delve further in β€οΈ πΎ
Ugh I was going to post a video but Iβll refrain but itβs from this facility. I donβt eat meat and buy cage free pasture raised eggs, but admit I have been slack lately about checking products I use to make sure they are not tested on animals anddd I donβt even know what palm oil is π€¦ββοΈ
Palm Oil is used in so many products..Cooking Oil, Soap, Shampoo. It is/was decimating forests and animal habitats. Sorry, I'm going to jump off my soapbox now. I'm team Critter 100%.
Interesting I will have to look into that!! Hopefully your soapbox is palm oil free β get it π€ team critter ftw!!
Oh it is!! It's my stubborn streak. I bang on about what should or shouldn't be bought/used so I'm too afraid now not to check every product!!! Hate being wrong. Plus we used to have Beagles!
Thank you. I do appreciate that. I know it goes on. I'm not sure that it will end either. I'll just do my bit and hope for the best β€οΈπΎ
It does make a difference, keep going.
Thank you. Let em call me Crazy I wear that badge with honour. A lot of products we don't get here so it's not as difficult as I would assume it is in the US.
Yes
Oh Man. Have we not progressed at all? In this day and age? I know Australia isn't much better.
I do not understand and itβs like hardly talked about by anyone. This is the website for the dog βbreederβhttps://marshallbio.com/
I'm not sure I can read it. I've been fostering dogs for over a decade and it's broken me a little bit. The Cruelty shown to such innocent pure creatures. Grrr. People! π€¬π€¬π€¬
Exactly! And there are plenty of documentaries showing obviously sick cows being led to slaughter and added to the food supply. American stupidity and hubris continues to rise, but don't expect the rest of the informed world to go along.
Just a heads up from someone who was in the cattle industry - don't believe everything you see in documentaries. There's so much disinformation it's obscene.
You mean it's worse or actually not that bad?
It's not as bad as they present. For example cattle get tiny levels of antibiotics that are same as humans but they add anti micobials into antibiotic category to make it look like they're pumped full.
Medically important antibiotics are widely used in food animals in the US. Banned in the EU to prevent development of resistance. What about hormones and antibiotics used as growth promoters - completely banned in the EU? Is there a clearance time before slaughter for both/either? Is it observed?
"Chlorinated chicken" refers to poultry that has been washed or dipped in water containing chlorine dioxide to kill bacteria like E. coli, Campylobacter, and Salmonella. While the EU banned this practice in 1997, the US allows it as a food safety measure.
Washing isn't required in the EU because vaccination of poultry, husbandry practices and factory hygiene standards means washing isn't necessary. The incidence of food borne infection is significantly lower in the EU. I know washing isn't harmful to human, but it's not appealing to consumers either.
Your first paragraph tells me you don't want to hear from my experience. Even though I have 2 science degrees and have been around agriculture my entire life. I'm not sure why Europe thinks we don't have science over here or care about safe food but it seems to be a thing.
Of course you care, but animal food production is quite different. Hormone & AB use for growth promotion is long banned. Needing to refrigerate eggs, higher tolerance of salmonella in chicken, lower welfare standards, greater intensification. Nowhere is perfect, but consumer expectations differ.
Don't believe everything you hear from someone who made $ off the cattle industry. As a long time journalist in farming/ livestock communities, I know the docs are pretty accurate. It's a disgusting business.
I know I was buying Palmers lotion and it had yellow dye! WHY!! To make us sick!
On the other hand Europeans should maybe quit smoking so much if they are concerned about carcinogens.
People smoke? If yes this might stop soon. I believe a lot of tobacco products are from the US.
Oh yes between the weapons industry and Big Tobacco we export a lot of death.
Imma gonna guess you haven't been there in a while....
Hasnβt been an issue you the US ? Really ? How do you excuse that ?
MTG is just a Mad Cow and no one is gonna eat that π€«π₯΄π€
πππππππππππ
π€£π€£π€£
If the US found Mad Cow disease they'd say fuck it and keep selling that stuff.
We'll all end up with brain worms.
Yeah, we had an outbreak of it, THIRTY YEARS AGO, and it was dealt with in months. Our objection to US beef, and other meats is about US food safety standards, plus the chemicals that are allowed to be put into the food chain. Youβre right about Trump and his shortsighted gutting of regulators tho!
BSE was in 1986!! We also had the Bubonic Plague in 1348 if you also want to bring that up!
Just pointing out the history. No reason to freak out.
Not aware of anyone "freaking out"
but it hasn't been an issue in the US.
Mad cow gave us Trump, might, handsie Bobo, Ted cruz, etc
Don't know if you heard but the UK is not in the EU
I heard. Irrelevant to my comment.
They are super -serious about it. I accidentally brought a contraband apple when arriving to the country
Yet Canadians go into the states to go grocery shopping all the time Well until Trump got elected again
Yes because in the US the wage is so shit and outdated that some go down there for the slightly lower prices, never heard of anyone going for quality.
Iβm talking about Australian bio security
Yeah thereβs no cross border shopping there.
