Today’s activity was a 7 mile walk in Dunbeath, Caithness. This is historic clearances country and there are many remnants of buildings which once housed families before they were forcibly (and violently in many cases) cleared to make way for sheep #ScottishHighlands #Walking

A footbridge over Dunbeath Strath with lush vegetation at either side of the river. It’s a beautiful sunny day with clear blue sky A vast and largely desolate heather moorland in Caithness in the Scottish Highlands. The heather is in bloom and a lovely shade of purple. In the foreground there are many large stones and these are from settlements before the land was cleared for sheep grazing. In the vast distance is a mountain landscape

Back in Dunbeath itself and down by the harbour you can see Dunbeath Castle

Dunbeath harbour with concrete tetrapods in the foreground. In the distance is Dunbeath Castle which seems to be nestled precariously in the cliff edge. It seems like a very Agatha Christie setting!
