I went for my first wild swim today, sort of, managed to sit in the water for around 45 seconds. It was a wee bit windy and the tide was out but I’ll definitely do it again. I’m nice and tingly now #WildSwimming #Health

Today’s excursion was a walk to Loch Glass and the Pink House near Evanton in the Scottish Highlands. This was one of the finest Caledonian Pine forests I’ve seen though rhododendron was encroaching after looking like it had been cut back. #Walking

The ‘Pink House’ by Loch Glass on the Wyvis estate in the Highlands. This is quite a grand pink building with a turret but it has never been lived in and is slowly decaying. There’s not a lot of history on this but it was meant to have been constructed without planning consent and was therefore left unfinished. Inside is just a shell. It sits on the stoney shores of Loch Glass with rolling hills and rocky outcrops A closer view of the Pink House taken from the shore of Loch Glass. There is gorse and heather in the foreground. The vivid pink of the house stands out against the more muted browns and greens

Today’s excursion was Culloden and a walk through Culloden woods and Clava stones, an ancient burial site. Culloden is very touristy but that aside you can only imagine what went on here in 1746.

My gardening joy this Summer has come from Buddleja. We cut back an area overgrown with Gorse and Bracken and found two woody Buddleja’s. I cut them down to base and they’ve produced beautifully scented flower spikes and I’ve had Peacock, Comma and Red Admiral butterflies #Gardening #Nature

Today’s activity was a 7 mile walk in Dunbeath, Caithness. This is historic clearances country and there are many remnants of buildings which once housed families before they were forcibly (and violently in many cases) cleared to make way for sheep #ScottishHighlands #Walking

A footbridge over Dunbeath Strath with lush vegetation at either side of the river. It’s a beautiful sunny day with clear blue sky A vast and largely desolate heather moorland in Caithness in the Scottish Highlands. The heather is in bloom and a lovely shade of purple. I would have said Scotland can do better than that, but I’m also losing faith in our direction of travel. We need new politics in the UK

I think that’s one of the major issues in UK politics, the country is run by people with generally no idea about the working population and don’t live in the real world. It’s one of the reasons folks disengage. It will be interesting to see what Corbyn does

Now, I’m curious! Where is that? I’ve travelled the M74 coming from Glasgow to Lockerbie but I don’t recognise it. Probably all changed with the motorway now, unless it’s elsewhere south of Lockerbie 🧐

Looks all very dignified but if you’re anything like Ivor the steak would be straight down the hatch without even tasting it 🤭

It’s a lovely photo, the more I learn about Whippets the more I think you need to have them in pairs for companionship.

I know what you mean, most of my ‘memories’ are good ones and bring a smile and a conversation along the lines of ‘do you remember when Ivor…’. Try to remember the vibrancy of the life ❤️
