I don't disagree in theory, but in practice it should be that they limit out after their term ends following their 70th birthday, including if they turn 70 before the beginning of a new term. But to turf them mid term would introduce non useful chaos in replacing them mid term.

Nope. What it would do is push their parties to replace them if the term would be interrupted by MANDATORY retirement. No more excuses for old farts holding on to power like embedded ticks. It needs to be *easier* to remove these manure piles, not harder. No exceptions, no extensions.

Then make it they are prevented from running if they will turn 70 during the upcoming term. But I still think it causes more problems than it solves to not complete a term. I think the Vatican does something like that when determining who can be considered for pope.

That's fine, but the important thing is a hard stop at 70. No more decaying relics running the country.
