I read that excellent book as well. The Thing, Blade Runner, Tron, all considered flops in their day, have all since had remakes and sequels.

It's always fun to look through older Razzie award lists and see which winners/nominees are now considered cult classics.
It's a good list: Young Doctors in Love outperforming Blade Runner. Zapped! beating The Thing by six spots. The Toy edging out Tron. Porky's actually beating out The Wrath of Khan.
there were some great movies that year
The Thing HAD a remake, or WAS a remake?
1982: great year for movies? Or the GREATEST year for movies?
The Thing bombed so badly that John Carpenter thought his career was over.
Just ordered a copy because this sounds like an awesome book.
