This (free image) shows the white marble sculpture of an angel, lying on his/her? back, wings stretched across what must be a grave memorial. This otherworldly creature appears crestfallen, on his back, body reclining half-on, half-off the long marble bed/pedestal, legs draped downward (We imagine feet unseen in this photo touch the ground). His right arm is stretched out, fingers curved softly round the edges of his right wing. A wilting red rose has been placed alongside that outstretched arm. His left hand covers his eyes, as if in his spirit’s exhaustion…or sad desperation. I take responsibility for choosing to continue using the male pronoun in this ALT, although it could just as easily be a She…What a strangely apt figure to represent what could be either of Us… Though I’ll confess I felt it closer to representing Me. Selfish? Perhaps. I confess to owning that flaw in my personality… This was written neither to “bring anyone down,” nor to elicit sympathy. It is simply self-expression. One cannot always feel free and strong enough to fly… 🙏forgive this diversion from uplifting verse and ALT. My shoulders do entirely bear the fault. We shall return to Beauty soon enough…Please bear with Us as - for now - rest We must. ~M💞
