Lady Georgiana Spencer, Henrietta Spencer and George Viscount Althorp - Angelica Kauffmann oil on canvas 1766 18th century Portrait of 3 children from a titled family, in rather formal attire of ivory satin dresses for the two girls: a red haired girl on the left, her sister in the middle with golden brown, short hair. Both girls are wearing ornate bonnets with lace and floral adornments. The older, red-haired boy on the right wears a russet jacket with ivory lace collar and cuffs, along with matching russet breeches, ivory silk stockings and shoes. He’s a Viscount even at that young age. He gazes adoringly at his littlest sister, as he holds a large bow. That youngest sister, in the centre, is holding a single arrow. The sister on the left holds fresh flowers on her lap, including pink roses, Blue Forget-Me-Nots & ivory flowers. All three are seated and shown in an outdoor, informal setting, the background possibly meant to resemble the wild expanse of grounds of the estate on which they lived. On the right, in the distant horizon, is the vague outline of what might be the grand house of this estate, an aura of light above it. But the sky here is overcast, with dark grey clouds. Centuries later one of their descendants would become well-known…and much loved by many. We cannot help but see a resemblance in the child at the centre of this endearing painting…But here, in 1766, we see but 3 innocent looking children, albeit children of privilege. Both girls could be described, even at their tender age, as an English Rose…their older brother looking on them lovingly, protectively…~💞

We came across this🖼by pure chance: Saw a doc about 2 unrelated🖼s/whether they could be verified as🎨by that particular artist. We looked the artist up & were totally😯when we saw this in her gallery & noticed the names/title…We saw a resemblance in the youngest girl + red hair’s a family trait…🌹

Yes&Yes. Her brother’s the present Viscount of Althorp. She’s buried there-on an island. This past Saturday they aired a doc about the day she died-31August1997. Many insights fr/ppl close/her private staff/ppl in palace/press/govt to what went on behind the scenes🇬🇧We’d planned this post wks ago🌹

I remember when she died. I was providing ROM exercises to a resident and it came on TV. We were so shocked and sad.

I’ll never forget that night-the 30th in🇺🇸-what I was watching when news broke; how we were 1st led to believe she was in hospital/they were trying to save her life🙏.😢uncontrollably when it was confirmed she’d died. 🤬paparazzi! The funeral. Yrs before truth emerged-learned much fr/that doc+others…
