Audio is a different bird than text when it comes to presenting a final draft. You can edit—add extra sounds in, cut segments out—but you can’t exactly revise a conversation (not honestly, anyway) I guess that’s why people choose other formats than interviews

Totally agree. In fact a musicology colleague in the UK and myself have formed a company to consult on these skills. If people have interest, there is a public access document I can share which lays out some best practices.
