We are allowed to create the narrative that they both lost. Trump got played by Putin, and Putin got nothing for it. Two increasingly weakened, egotistical old men met and nothing happened.

I’m afraid I disagree. Men like Trump and Putin don’t meet for “nothing.” They had a reason; they’re just not telling the rest of us what it was.

They have power. This isn’t debatable. They are two of the most powerful men in the world, and if we ignore that truth, we’re just being foolish. This doesn’t mean we agree with them or support them. But we can’t wish them—or their damage—away.
