i've been meaning to play this game as an adult for the longest time. we got it when i was in like middle school and we did NOT understand the game at all so it just languished.

It's really funny, I had no idea what to do when I was young, but I recently picked up the Myst and Riven remakes and found them to be on the easy side of moderate — much easier than, say, Blue Prince
The games are fun and hold up for sure, though
all right i guess i'll have to *shudder* install steam
I played it again a few years ago. It is NOT any easier. Like, in one “age,” the different sounds indicate which direction to go, but you’d never know that unless you competed another, specific Age first. I eventually resorted to using text-based walkthroughs to finish Myst, like the good ole days.
lol that's what i did when i was a kid, text walkthroughs but i got frustrated walking across the house from the tv to the family computer and also (for me) the total lack of feeling like i was playing the game
