they asked me to fill out a PTSD questionnaire and I'm back in wplace again
they asked me to fill out a PTSD questionnaire and I'm back in wplace again
they made me fill out 15 separate forms. FOR ADHD TREATMENT
Right up there with “don’t worry, we’ll get you the help and the care that you need for your appointment-missing disease, unless you miss an appointment, in which case we’ll auto-debit you for $140 and refuse to see you again” for utterly tone-deaf psychs
I am literally always talking about how fucking difficult it is to go through the effort to actually get ADHD treatment when you have ADHD
my (AuDHD) gf said she's pretty sure that counts as torture and/or a murder attempt
absolutely
I haven't ever been diagnosed because the first step for me is to fill out a form I get from the drs and return it to the drs,,, I've filled out 3 of these forms and keep forgetting they exist to take back to the drs
That’s how it goes. Yeah it’s crazy. I went through a whole evaluation that lasted hours.
You need to print this on a t-shirt and wear it to an appointment. 🤣
amazing non-intrusive idea for people with a disorder well known for having trouble focusing their attention on something
Noooooo😭😭😭😭😭🫂🫂🫂
it’s like an anti-selection bias weed out process
i have a whole social justice soapbox for this just know it’s not a joke 😭
yeeeeeeep. "do no harm" my ass.
Sounds like they're trying to weed out the people with ADHD, not treat them. >.>
I talked to my doctor and they asked my gender again anyway. WHAT WAS THE POINT
blink 182 voice: what's my gender again
it's like in a job interview when they ask you a question that was already clearly and concisely answered on your resume
also this health portal I'm using has two flaws: 1. the "chat" button is hidden. my doctor told me to contact them with some info, and it turns out there's no way for me to do that. 2. it clearly is built on top of a weight loss app
like it has a food journal section, it lets me graph my weight, I can set weight/BMI goals... but this is for ADHD. are they saying if I lost weight, my ADHD would get better? because I kinda doubt it
The medical industry’s answer for both in the past has been prescribing speed
I'm always better at focusing on videos while I'm eating a meal, so maybe they're suggesting an inverse correlation between weight and ADHD?
I'm also better at focusing when I'm eating but that's usually because my hands are occupied, not actually because of the food. Anything that occupies my hands and needs only the bare minimum amount of attention will help me focus better
I forgot to directly say the part where I think they're wrong to correlate food and ADHD in any way and that what others said where they're trying to correlate things that are not actually correlated is probably more accurate
I'm beginning to think that I maybe didn't make it sufficiently clear that I was doing a bit LMAO
<------ autistic
actually as someone who has tried to wrangle shitty medical software from the other side: yeah lol they do believe that, just not in a legally indemnifiable way
"lose weight" seems to be the solution a lot of doctors offer to a lot of problems if you look a certain way... -_-
They don’t want to admit that cocaine and meth would fix you, or that they’d help you lose weight
I mean, there's that post from tumblr that I'd seen go around that was pages of doctors basically going, "Well, if you lost weight..." and a bunch of barely-caught-by-20th-opinions that actually found what was really wrong... ... so yeah, they probably would.
Appetite Deficit and Hungry Disorder
Good luck with the assessment, you've got this! 💪
Almost like the systems meant to help are specifically designed, or at least nearly criminally negligent in their design, to keep those who need help the most from getting it. If ever there were a place for direct assistance vs. red tape, this would be it, but I've never heard of that anywhere.
