Spot on. But why do Western governments continue to allow such leeway - that is what really confuses me. Why. And why are protests considered so inflammatory?

There have been 100+ arrests in relation to protests since Palestine Action was proscribed. Go back 30 years to the Ploughshares Four. They damaged a warplane in protest against genocide, and were acquitted on the grounds of "lawful excuse". Somewhere in the last three decades, we've lost our way.
