The Horsehead and Flame Nebulae on my first anniversary on Bluesky (check my pinned post)! The pair of deep-sky objects located in the constellation Orion at last are now high enough for an hour of Dwarf smart scope shooting 4-5am #astronomy #astrophotography @stormhour.com @photohour.bsky.social

The Horsehead Nebula is a dark nebula—a cold, dense cloud of gas and dust—that blocks light from the glowing emission nebula, IC 434, behind it. It appears as a dark, jagged silhouette resembling a horse's head against the reddish background. The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024 is an emission nebula named for its resemblance to fire. It glows brightly in orange and pink hues and contains filaments of dark dust.

The Nebula is next in a week or two's time from my location. Unless I chop a tree or two first!
