I agree this is not the single most important element of the story, but…I sure wish the pro-democracy side would sharpen its descriptions of what these egregious abuses mean to the future of what was once a democratic republic. So many of even politicians’ responses are boring legalese.

I sit here in Minnesota reading all this, and what I think about it has zero effect. To some extent, Greg Sargent's view will get dismissed as New Republic view. That's why it is so important that these government people, bureaucrats, speak up vigorously -- and be reported widely

Where do you imagine they would be published widely when every TV, radio, print and digital platform has owned and curated by trump donor right wing acquisition broligarchs since 2022, and their primary goal has been to promote trump for the past 3yrs. Who is going to push anti trump stories?

I understand the desire for stronger condemnation by these folks, but you’re correct - a former IG answering about a topic who doesn’t have first-hand facts - “highly irregular” is about what you’d expect. Where is Congress in any of this? I know the answer, but that’s the true fail here…
