Rant‽ I've lived on the border since 1960 and I've never seen anyone try to enter by mule. I've even been a coyote. Under internat'l law ratified by the US, EWI is a lawful way to request asylum. Regular EWIs are administrative "catch and release"; repeat offenders may be charged with a misdemeanor.
Are you supposed to see all the people climbing walls/crossing rivers or any illegal entry like that? The mule/coyote transporters kinda work to not be so open/obvious since they are sneaking across if possible right? Nothing to do with those who EWI, but too many people don't know they differ
The last century yes, we saw folks every evening climbing the Clinton fence to run across the estuary. They also ran through the SYPoE itself, hence the signage. Nowadays overland crossings are more remote, like Jacumé and the Pápago reservation. Human mules only carry drugs. Coyotes handle EWIs.
Honestly it would help if news and govt stats made it easy to find the number of "illegals" who sneak across border coyote style and find them yrs later working some where and they can be subject to removal, can't get green card without leaving and coming back later properly (w/inspection). Contrast
Contrast the sneakers w/ huge amount of people properly lining up at border crossing/using that deleted customs app to get court dates and put in immigration processing system. TX wasn't flying "illegals" to Chicago/CA/D.C? TX was flying those who entered w inspection to those other cities🤷🏾♀️

So you are confusing illegals to include people that EWI-enter with inspection? Folks aren't climbing fences and dodging traffic when you can walk up to the border inspection crossing, identify yourself, get logged in with asylum/future court dates as a parolee & allowed to stay in US till notified?
"EWI" is the term used by the DHS. It means specifically Entry WITHOUT Inspection. The hoi polloi prefer the term "dem guldurn illiggals". Crossing the border without papers isn't as simple as you make it out to be. There simply aren't enough immigration judges to handle the business.
There aren't enough Immigration judges to process cases of those who-entered with inspection and are asylum seekers, or any other "legal immigrant." Bc there's a ton of them. Small amt of lIllegal immigrants are easy to process. They're subject to removal/deportation and some even expidited removal
Again. I said there is a difference between illegals jumping fences and hiding from border patrol agents. If you can enter with inspection at a border crossing then you are not an "illegal immigrant" so the point is all the news w/long lines of folks waiting to enter were not entering illegally
