I don’t think there’s value in meeting people in the middle on completely shitty beliefs and acting like it’s some great act of benevolence on your part - any time I’ve done that as a young adult, the other party never actually met me in the middle. Instead I “lost” because I gave in
and the other person never learned or changed. I’ve stopped trying to persuade family (the people where I usually did this) because as the “child” there’s an automatic belief that I’m inexperienced and naive. I just make noises to confirm I heard them and don’t engage
The sole exception is science because I have a literally fucking PhD in that and they listen to me somewhat. Anyways, it’s exhausting
