My mum was a nurse and told me stories of nursing people in an iron lung, but that was a great many years ago. Why the hell would anyone want to go back to this, ignoring medical advancements!

When I was a nursing student back in the Stone Age, I was unpleasantly surprised to see medical marketing people in operating rooms. And then the regs from insurance co.s determining patient care by what they would pay. It’s been with us for over 30 yrs.

I am in the UK, where we still have a National Health Service (NHS). My mum worked in it. It saved my wife's life. It is constantly strangled by the right wing, but it is the greatest achievement of this country IMHO. People over here are generally not bankrupted by getting ill, unlike the USA.

I don’t know why these people are so against healthcare! How can you ‘deserve’ to live or not? And how is it that other people think they can make decisions about your body and/or lifestyle? It’s master/slave mentality: if I don’t think you’re ’worth it’, into the pit you go!!! We suck.
