This was a great series broadcast by the BBC from 78-81. Coincidentally, the years I did my Fine Art Degree in Brighton. They had The Cars at the Uni and Live Wire at the Poly. I think there are over 40 episodes, which still pop up occasionally.

As a printmaker myself, I always enjoyed Power's images. I was very much into silkscreen (which has some commonality with the blocky colours of lino printing), back in the 70's and experimenting with capturing movement.

I am in the UK, where we still have a National Health Service (NHS). My mum worked in it. It saved my wife's life. It is constantly strangled by the right wing, but it is the greatest achievement of this country IMHO. People over here are generally not bankrupted by getting ill, unlike the USA.

We saw Beautiful: The Carole King Musical a few years back, which traces her personal story, song writing collaborations and solo work. It's a great way of discovering the stories behind the songs. Still touring the UK & US I believe. THKS for all the wonderful songs Carole.

Tragically, Michael Lee (Pearson) was only 39. He did great work with Page and Plant: Unledded. I am a drummer. So many favourites gone; several way too early. Bonham, Peart, Moon, Hawkins, Powell, Baker, Watts, etc. RIP

The house we lived in (Greater London, late 60's) was in a road where the buses terminated their route. The drivers had an office over the road. Hence, there was nearly always a Routemaster right outside our door. There is a bus garage elsewhere now.

Bought that on release. I was 14. They played Edmonton Sundown that year & recorded it for Space Ritual. Lemmy in the line-up. The Rank Org briefly ran 4 Sundown's across London. They were converted cinema's with around 4k capacity. Hosted some great gigs.

The pin-up version of the Outsiders exhibition on homelessness and substandard housing has now been installed at Cromer Artspace in Norfolk and will open tomorrow for two weeks. Itโs essentially the same exhibition that we displayed inside the Houses of Parliament in January 2024.

Great band, formed from ex singer & drummer of Free, ex King Crimson bassist and (recently passed) guitarist Mick Ralphs, from Mott the Hoople. Paul Rogers fronted many bands, including a tour with Queen, and produced solo work.

I was 11 when Star Trek TOS first aired in the UK. The idea of a small hand-held communication (mobile phone) device was far off, as was a PADD computer, touchscreens, automatic doors, translation programmes, etc. I wonder what the next 50+ years will bring.

Passed the house she had on USVI St Croix a couple of years back. The White O' Morn cottage, in Ternakill, Maam, Co Galway, from "The Quiet Man," was destroyed, but there is a museum in Mayo. My grandparents lived in a similar cottage a few miles outside Galway City and used a horse for transport.

They played 'In the Evening' at Knebworth that year, followed by 'Stairway To Heaven'. It was wonderful. Although Page and Bonham probably had some extra fuel in the tank.

Not a cook, but I think the addition of sea salt, a little oil and (most importantly), a twist or two of black pepper transforms any salad. Also, tomatoes in this country vary between absolutely tasteless (refrigerated, imports) and yummy, depending on the source.

Saw him live in 1980 & 1991. The earliest numbers are definitely the best. He famously got a set of car seat covers for doing the vocal on 'In a Broken Dream' with Python Lee Jackson. Great song.

Great band, still play their stuff now. I remember this from the time. Stuart Adamson was another talent lost too early (2001). John Peel really rated his playing. Fun fact: Pete Wishart MP, formerly of Runrig, was in Big Country in the early 80's.

My (Scottish) wife and I visited Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & Quebec a couple of years back. Even found the occasional kilt wearer. It was a popular destination for those emigrating from Scotland in the 18th & 19th Century. Have a good trip. ๐ #Scotland #Canada

I am a drummer. These lists are always a bit strange, with weird omissions, and some artists high up just because the band was successful. Cannot argue with the first three names being right up there, but I daresay you would get 20 different lists from 20 different people.

Helped unload the trucks for Rod Stewart at Brighton Centre 1980. Carmine Appice was on drums for that tour. Coincidentally, did the same for The Who gig at that same venue 2 months later. Kenney Jones was their drummer, following the death of Keith Moon in 1978. Both, great drummers.

Oh yes. The first 'Culture' novel. Really liked the second also 'The Player of games'... and his fiction 'The Wasp Factory' and 'The Bridge'. Not many authors are so successful in 2 genre's. Sadly, passed at only 59.

Cannot remember the last time we had a decent Greek meal in the UK. 'Jazzing up' Greek food is always counter productive, as it is based on traditional, rustic recipes. My wife had a Greek aunt. We did find a few great places for Horiatiki Salata: Corfu, Thassos, Skiathos, Kefalonia, Skopelos ....๐
