So don’t think it’s as simple as “people in the US are morally bankrupt.” It’s clear that some of those in public office are, but those trying to get us back on track are fighting with one and sometimes two hands tied behind their backs.

The only true thing Trump ever said was that the system is rigged. It is—but it’s not rigged AGAINST him. And the rigging has been going on a long, long time (Texas and Florida being key examples).

Trump took advantage of the systemic issues in this country. He’s a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. You can have cancer & not know it until a tumor grows big enough to press on your heart or lungs. And you can remove the tumor and feel better—but the cancer is still there.

That’s what we’re dealing with. As a nation, we’ve had a cancer growing quietly for some time. But now one tumor is pretty big and it’s threatening the nation’s very life. We can get rid of the tumor. But that won’t cure the cancer.
