Me too. Anything by Steve Earle is in heavy rotation on road trips. I’m a big fan of Stacy Earle too, she used to play a lot around here, I never missed her shows.

I just now stubbed my toe on this post, in a (so far) futile effort to track her down. We lost touch some years back when they did a Scandinavian (?) tour. πŸ˜₯

She hasn’t played around here for years either. I used to drive a bunch of 5 yr old girls to summer day camp. By the end of the summer they could sing along to most of her songs. They would belt out Must be Love at the top of their lungs. She’s all they wanted to listen to.

I just read this to my wife. We'd gotten to know Stacy (and her sig-other/stellar guitarist, Mark Stewart) via attending coffeehouse gigs in Ashland City, where she lived at the time. Remember that baby boy she had to leave behind? They reunited (!) when he was 14ish, and he moved up here! ❀️

I first came across her at a bar in Wakefield, Quebec. She often played in Ottawa and the surrounding area. We’ve been lucky to have Steve come quite often as well. (The sad song she wrote about that, my girlfriend and I would cry when she sang it.) Thanks for the memories.
