I think the worst decision (design wise) in The Star Wars Prequel trilogy was making everybody ALWAYS in Jedi Robes. I'm not bothered that the robes exist, as some are, but they really should have had more personnel outfits. Definitely one of the top tier fixes in the Clone Wars TV show.
In original Obi Wan wore robes because he was from a desert planet and in hiding It makes 0 sense for those being actual traditional jedi robes
The answer is because he wasn't actually in hiding originally and George retconned that in. Which is why it doesn't bother me that they were wearing the same robes because they are the jedi robes.
Which is also why he isnt worried about using the force or his lightsaber in public
The Jedi Knight franchise really put the prequels to shame with their stylish but still jedi-esque gettup.
