This is a very strange conversation. We talk about this all the time. And we haven’t even got into Scottish cuisine which has a population the size of a US city. Either you have very strange British friends or they are a figment of your imagination.

You guys! Agree to agree. I was in Dublin/Belfast/Liverpool/Manchester and ate at Nando's, Turkish, Indian, and Tim Ho's. Accidentally found Mowgli while wandering around. There is a lot of great food over there and you don't even have to be in London. Mind you, pizza with a side of chips...yikes!
Of course the most important question now is: When you were in Liverpool did you try Scouse and wet Nelly? 😀
No🥲but I will next time. I did have haggis in Scotland and zampone in Italy. I’m a big fan of everything but the baaahh or oink foods.
Much underrated is haggis - also worth trying “haggis Bon bons” with whiskey. BTW the originator of the thread blocked me after I provided 9 Indian dishes invented in UK if you are wondering why I’m no longer taking part in the discussion. 😀
I'm so sorry. You are a goldmine of information. I learned so much about Brexit from your posts back on Twitter. Also, there is some truth in adamant ignorance on this side of the pond. Sigh.
Tbh I’m pretty extreme about pizza anyway. Unless I’m really sure of a place I only eat it in Italy. Too many disappointments.
