It’s definitely in the “not for everyone” category. The movie I think is much more fun. Nothing wrong with just enjoying that version.

The broadway/movie version is just the few chapters when they are in school then skips to the end. Not at all like the books. It’s a much more enjoyable story, which is why the Broadway show made a popular hit out of just the essence of the book.
