More important to stay in power than to nation build. That said, the promises will be thrown about like confetti come election time - then forgotten after. Labor seems to rely mainly on "we're not as bad as the other side!"

It’s not going to work any more. Which makes the rise of current US style politics even more likely. As people get destroyed they get angrier.
