I don't have many friends anymore. While others rushed to "return to normal" I decided that the scientific papers I'd read told more truth than governments focused on economics, that I wanted to minimise my risk of being part of the "acceptable losses", and kept up COVID precautions.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users. While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.
I don't get how people don't understand this. Are they being deliberately obtuse? The "won't somebody think of the children!" is almost the oldest excuse in the book to put in place terrible laws.
"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense
Answered once but can't stay at just one. This movie changed how I viewed myself and my relationships. It helped me finally grow up. Sure Rob is an arse, but by the end, the potential for him to be a decent human is there - and that's what I wanted to be.

But something else feels off with people. As others have said, it seems like parts of people are receding into a great fade. They’re not the same as they were pre-2020.
But it sure would explain a few things. To be clear, trauma, PTSD, minimizing propaganda, peer pressure, & the normalcy bias could be solely responsible for everyone not caring about whether or not they’re repeatedly infected with a dangerous virus.
Has anyone figured out a way to diplomatically suggest to their friends or family members that repeat COVID infections may’ve given them subtle frontal lobe damage that decreases empathy and the ability to accurately assess risks? That’s a tricky one.
Honestly: if by now people haven't concluded that repeat infections is bad, they don't WANT to know, and perhaps that's because of those infections and how COVID f's with risk assessment. Which means it's too late. Personal experience: people just glaze over when you mention it and change the topic
