ICE hit my town yesterday and I've been accused by at least half a dozen people of either Doing A Misinformation or failing to identify obvious impostors

Also uhhh if a bunch of guys who were feds showed up pretending to be feds and grabbed a bunch of people they profiled as possibly immigrants and took them to ??????? and no one was going after them that would be far far worse than the really bad reality

I think questioning whether they’re real feds is a good argument (in a sterile setting) for why their conduct is bad, but yeah, nobody should doubt that they will act with the authority and lack of restraint typical for law enforcement.

Um, because there are tons of cases of ICE imposters (dressed just like them and driving vehicles w/fake lights) who’ve SA women, tried to break into homes, held people they assume are undocumented at gunpoint, etc.

oh this *clarified* things for me. people want them to be impostors so that it's someone else's job (the cops, maybe?) to deal with it, rather than the real thing, because the real thing calls for a messy political solution which will require decades of pitched confrontation starting this instant.
